Thomas Sleet, Ingo Baumgarten, Ella Gant, and print selection from Island Press, received several press coverage including in the Riverfront Times (pdf), the St. Louis American (pdf) and the Art-Patrol (pdf). An essay by Chris Kahler (pdf) accompanied the Thomas Sleet’s exhibition.
Bruno David is pleased to congratulate Alex Couwenberg for receiving the Joan Mitchell Foundation 2007 Painters & Sculptors Award. Alex’s upcoming exhibition at the Bruno David Gallery is scheduled for May 2008.
Joan Hall's latest exhibition this Fall at Bruno David Gallery was listed as “...outstanding solo exhibitions” by David Bonetti in his St. Louis Post-Dispatch (pdf) “Best Visuals Arts 2007” list. She was also featured in AT HOME Magazine (pdf) and Cornerstone Magazine (pdf) in their January 2008 issue. Her art is included in the upcoming exhibition "Holland Paper Biennial (2008)" at the Rijswijk Museum and the CODA Museum, Holland. The exhibition will open June 8, 2008.
Cindy Tower will be having a museum solo exhibition Cindy Tower: Workplace Series at the Berkel and Crisp Missouri Museum, Cape Girardeaux, Missouri; with an opening reception on February 29. An exhibition catalog with accompanied essays by Stanley I. Grand and David Brody is available. (video)
Ingo Baumgarten is currently having his first major museum solo exhibition Mit Fremdem Blick (Through Another's Gaze) (pdf) at the Kao Yuan Art Center Museum, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. An exhibition catalog is available. His work is currently in the gallery’s Project Room.
Carmon Colangelo's current show Carmon Colangelo: Prints (pdf) at the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center – School of Medicine is on view until February 2. The Exhibition was reviewed in the West End Word (pdf), The Record (pdf) and Contemporary Impressions magazine in their Fall 2007 issue. An essay by Jill Downen (pdf) accompanied the exhibition. Carmon Colangelo is also the curator of the much-anticipated exhibition On the Margins at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum with an opening reception on February 8. The exhibition will be accompanied by a full-color publication that includes essays by Eleanor Heartney and Paul Krainak. An Artist Lecture with Willie Doherty, at the Steinberg Hall Auditorium is scheduled for February 7. A Panel Discussion on this exhibition is scheduled for February 9 at COCA.
Bunny Burson’s prints were recently included in "The Politics of Power " at BAG Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. Her art was recently featured in HARPER’S magazine (pdf) last December.
Elaine Blatt had her work represented at the Biennale Internazionale dell Arte Contemporanea last December in Florence, Italy.
Yvette Drury Dubinsky's work was part of an exhibition at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts. She was part of the Monoprint Project there during August, 2007 as well.
Peter Marcus' art was recently featured in CIRCA 122 (pdf) from Ireland.
Maya Escobar was featured in BITCH magazine (pdf) in a article by Julia Appel in their Winter 2008 issue. (video)
Joan Hall, Bunny Burson and Sarah Colby were featured in an article in Cornerstones magazine.
Lisa K. Blatt's art was shown recently in the Shanghai Biennial at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai and, in Scope Miami in December with Civilian Art Projects of Washington, DC. Her art is currently being shown in "night work" at the House of Hengst in San Francisco, CA. She was invited to return for an art residency at Anderson ranch in Snowmass, Colorado (with scholarship).
Corey Escoto will be having his first museum exhibition at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAMStL) on February 1. He will also be participating in an international project with the Frac Nord Pas-de-Calais in Dunkerque, France. Corey was recently featured in STLouis Magazine (pdf) in a interview about his upcoming exhibition at the CAMStL.
Takashi Horisaki and Andrea Christens first collaborative project is currently on view in a group show "NYNYNY" at the Flux Factory Gallery in Queens, NY. Takashi’s "Social Dress New Orleans" will travel back to New Orleans at the Collins C. Diboll Art Gallery, Loyola University Campus, with an opening on March 5th. His recent work will be in a group show at Space 301 in Mobile, Alabama. Takashi and Andrea moved from Queens to a new live/work loft in Brooklyn.
Patricia Olynyk is having an exhibition at the Weil Gallery, University of Texas, Corpus Christi. The exhibition “OSO Bay XV Biennial” opens January 31. Patricia will also have an Installation Lecture open to the public at the Steinberg Hall Auditorium, Sam Fox School, Washington University in St. Louis on January 24, 4:00 pm.
Jill Downen delivered a public lecture about her art last november at the Forest City Gallery in London, Ontario. She also wrote an essay (pdf) for the Carmon Colangelo's current exhibition "Carmon Colangelo: Prints" at the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center – School of Medicine.
Shannon Collis is having an exhibition "From Here: Lost and Found Stories" at the Conkling Gallery, Minnesota State University - Mankato, with an opening on January 14th and a Lecture on January 22nd.
Charles Schwall will present a lecture in January 2008 at the conference: Questions that Matter: Exploring Sustainability and Creativity, hosted by the St. Louis Reggio Collaborative. Charles' book "In The Spirit Of The Studio: Learning From The Atelier Of Reggio Emilia (Early Childhood Education)" is available on Amazon.com.
Robert Pettus was commissioned by Fumihiko Maki, the architect of the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, to photograph the new complex.

The gallery is located at 3721 Washington Boulevard in the heart of Grand Center, directly opposite The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, and in close proximity to the Sheldon Art Galleries, The Fox Theatre, and Powell Symphony Hall. The gallery is open free to the public and the hours are 10 AM to 5 PM Wednesday through Saturday and by appointment.
