Bruno David is pleased to announce DROLL, a solo exhibition of drawings by Illinois-based artist Jack Decoteau. The exhibition, curated by Dionna Raedeke, brings together a wonderful selection of works that reflect the artist's distinctive blend of mythology, humor, color and masterful figurative drawing.

The exhibition opens with a public reception on Friday, September 4, 2026, and remains on view through October 31, 2026, at the gallery’s main space on Forsyth Boulevard, downtown Clayton, MO.

Decoteau's works encourage viewers to reconsider familiar myths through a contemporary lens, where humor and imagination reveal enduring truths about the human experience. "The subject matter of my work is usually mythological or allegorical," writes Decoteau, "often emphasizing naïve, odd, eccentric behavior." His expressive figures, rich with gesture and personality, explore themes of desire, curiosity, and transformation while gently subverting conventional interpretations.

The human figure remains central to Decoteau's work. As the artist explains, "My art, like my sense of humor, is droll... I believe in having fun with aesthetics.” Jack Decoteau has maintained a daily studio practice for the last 50+ years in Illinois. In conjunction with the exhibition, Bruno David Gallery will publish a comprehensive catalogue of the artist’s work, featuring an in-depth exhibition history and bibliography.
